Default Food photography

Taken with a basic point and shoot camera (Canon Powershot SX120IS) in natural light and edited using PIcasa/Picnik. Please critique.

the shot is too centered. Parts of the crust are kind of blown out so loose texture/detail. Next time, try to get in there even farther. Make me see the detail and texture of the food. Keep shooting until you get what I call a "Yum Shot". A shot that when you look at it, you can't help but say "YUM!". Try getting off to one side a bit, maybe a bit of an angle on the open face of the food. You have a lot of plate in there. No need. The food is the focus, not the plate. It's a small piece of food and all that plate and the fork make it look really small. By it looking so small, it kind of feels insignificant. and doesn't make me want to look too much, let alone eat it. The main point of food photography is to show how tasty the food is. You want the viewer to be able to taste it with their eyes. I'm not getting any "flavor" out of the shot. The text is an odd color in an odd place.

Great attempt though. Food photography is a tough one. I've been doing it for many years and still struggle with some shots. It's a tough subject that takes lots and lots of practice. Keep it up! You're on the road!
