Default First Black & white with Photoshop

Hi All,

Would appreciate some critique on this one for composition or anything to improve if possible.

From a fairly drab original colour photo, i used PS for the first time to go black and white. I then increased the contrast and darkened the shadows which i thought brought out nice detail.

Cheers LP

I'd like to see the statue have a bit more breathing room. The current crop is very close to the back edge of the wing and it clips right through the elbow at the bottom edge. I think I would have composed to get the whole wingtip, but I think your version works pretty well there, so if you're happy, there's no reason to change that.

I'm not sure how I feel about the canted photo. I found it a bit distracting, but it may well be integral to your vision.

I really like the B&W conversion and I think your choice here was a good one.

Thanks for the feedback Doug, i think youre 100% correct on the breathing room, wingtip & elbow.

The canted angle in the photo is how the statue naturally stands. Maybe if i had more of the statue in frame it wouldnt be as distracting.

Luckily the griffin isn't going anywhere, so i can have another attempt

Cheers

WHAT HE SAID! Those wings demand more space.Aside from that, it looks nice to me. Good Luck!
