I've started taking photos after many years and thought I'd concentrate on things I enjoy. This is a shot I took outside of a glass filled with coke and a bottle off to the side. My question is, should I have used a shallower dof on the bottle? Brought more of the glass into the picture? My husband does not like the composition and he has me wondering...

It would do more for me if the bottle was also in focus with a light blur past that. The fact that the glass is cut off draws my eye to it. I get stuck there. Maybe try a little wider to get more of your subject matter.

I have to agree with Izzy here, but also want to add that the perspective might be better if you were to have shot it at a lower angle. As it is now, it looks like you were sitting at the table, set it up an shot it.
this is what i mean, check out the images |
