Default Colorful Blueberries

I was playing around with these blueberries and this was my favorite shot of the bunch, but I still don't really know if it is interesting to anyone else.

Does the focusing work on this? Does the shallow focus lead your eye to the big blueberry in focus? How about the curve of the red dish? Does that help lead your eye around the photo? Also, the yellow in the background is really in shadow on the left, is that distracting?

Thanks everyone for your help, I'm still learning!!

I think you've done what you're trying to do. My eye went directly to the blueberry on the back edge of the dish. And I don't think your background distracts from the shot.

That said, the light on the blueberries seems a bit specular to me. You might want to try a more diffuse key light (if that's possible). Possibly also consider dropping your exposure a bit to make the colors of the berries a bit more saturated.

Yes, a little more saturation and a tad less exposure would be better. I like how the shadows rest inside the top of the in-focus blueberry, it defines the flower and it's quite subtle yet striking. The very first thing I noticed was the contrast between the red and blue of the bowl/its content. Very striking, and yes, your focus does work to draw the eye to the in-focus berry
