Jonnyquest45,

First of all, I'd like to start by saying that I really enjoy this photograph and although it wasn't the best day for it, it still has potential. Of course when looking at something like this, most people are going to prefer to see it against a nice blue background, maybe with some white clouds, because that brings life to the photo, but there are things that you can still do to make it "pop."

I'm not sure how your Photoshop skills are, but if you don't already have it, you may want to check out a plugin called Color Efex Pro by Nik Software. They have a huge variation of presets that you can alter to really do some amazing things to your image. I went ahead and applied a few of these that I personally thought did the image justice so that you can see what types of things will hopefully give it that pop that you're looking for.

I uploaded the images to a private photobucket link secured with a password:
Login to a private Photobucket.com album

I didn't want anybody to think I was trying to steal credit for your work, so I will PM you the password and if you choose to share it, then that is your decision. I usually only keep images up long enough so that the original author has time to view them for his/herself though.

If any of the effects are what you're looking for, then just reply on here and I'll try to show you how to go about achieving them for yourself.

Good luck with any and all future photographs, I look forward to seeing more of your work.
David

Just one point on composition: I don't know how strongly cropped this image is, but I think that giving the plane a bit of space to 'fly into' would probably give it a bit more dynamic appeal.
