Default train kept a rollin.....

I was able to get a couple of shots as the train came and went. I would like to know if I got the colors to look sharp. I cropped and enhanced the color levels and curves with GIMP. Now this was one of the first photos I took in manual. Looking at the EXIF info I'm surprised it came out at all.

This would be the perfect kind of scene to take two or more exposures for and blend them together. As it is, while the overall composition works okay, the subject is too dark and the sky too bright.

Are you likely to be able to reshoot or was this a once-only opportunity for you?

I agree with what wulf said you could have a great opportunity for an HDR style shot here. Or you might want to try something when the sun is a little lower in the sky.

As shot it just seems to bright and that makes everything really harsh and hard to look at - Of course telling a train to roll by around sunset is not the easiest thing to do
