Looks very nice and tempting with all the ingredients for a one dish meal. Did you intend to keep your DOF narrow and or primarily to the steak? Just curious because most food shots have all the food on the plate in focus.

yes i wanted to focus on the steak, showing that other things can be replaced but they are there for "color" and yumness

The steak looks good. However, my eye is drawn to the fact that it looks to be set on a paper towel. Personally I'd invest in a plain white table cloth (or even a nice white cloth napkin if you don't need the whole table or you want to do the shots quickly before dinner sort of thing). I don't know why it draws my eye, but I find it a bit distracting. Other than that, the food looks lovely.

ah yes. unfortunately paper towel is just how serious as i took food photography before this picture. but now we are already shopping for new plates and bowls
