What's with the willow?

Took this one late this afternoon, playing with my brand new 7d. Beautiful weather, clear blue sky, the sun low already and almost exactly in my back. The color contrast between the yellow and the blue of the sky caught my eye.



The colors came out ok, and I thought I got the composition right too, but somehow it just doesn't 'pop'. Any ideas why not?

I am not an expert, just a newbie, but for me, what is arresting about the shot are the colors. I like it, but I don't have anything to focus my eyes on.

I guess it's the lack of apparent subject. Maybe if there's a bird or a plane in one corner of the sky?

I agree it has great color..but there is nothing of note to focus on...
