Default Sombre picture from Berlin....

Berlin Holocaust Memorial...

This was taken during a short break in Berlin last year. I created the print for a competition at our local club but it didn't do too well. I like it for it's sombre mood, which tends to mirror what the memorial was about... the Holocaust... and the way the sun from the window in the memorial building lights the figures perhaps conveying that there is a better time ahead.... or am I being a bit too deep!! Maybe people are not that interested in this type of photography but I have always thought that photography was all about conveying a point or a reason for what you have taken. I would really appreciate your thoughts... Thanks.

I can see what you were trying to do and admire your vision. Perhaps the problem the judge saw with your image is that the light from the window is completely blown out. The window shape doesn't really look like a sun, it's actually closer to the shape of an eye.

I tried cropping your image to remove the blown out area, and I think it really helps the image. Just a suggestion.
