Default Milk and Cookies-A bit soggy!!

I am one of the many who have started a 365 day project. I found this neat little bottle in the basement and wanted to take some pictures of it. This is what I ended up with and it is the one I posted but I am not pleased. Is it the lighting, ugh, I have so much to learn about lighting! and I feel like the background is grainy? So much to learn, any advice would be welcomed.
Thanks!!

One thing to be adjusted is the white balance. That bottle looks clear so the milk should look white rather than the orangey color here. Compare it to the white backround on your Flickr page to see just how non-white it looks.

Hi,

The background is grainy because your ISO. You have a high ISO, that cause more grain.
Try a lower ISO, increasing the shutter speed. You can put the camera down.

And yes, lighting is one complex thing.
For that shoot you can control light... Getting some lamps is an idea
