Default Composition question

I admit I cheated a little making two photos into a diptych. But I also wanted to follow the rules the submitting to the thread!

Question: Which photo do you like better composition wise and why?
Do you think either of them is good, compositionally?
Both of these are SOOC. How would you PP to make them better?
Do you think the images work better as a diptych or would you rather see them singly?

Finally, does the picture make you hungry?

Answers to any of the above questions are appreciated as are any other comments/criticisms. THANKS!

Brownie diptych

Canon 40D
Shutter 1/5
ISO 250
F8
Focal length 82mm

Just my personal opinion, but the first one (left) just doesn't work for me. I feel like there is too much bokeh. If the top brownie had been shown fully in the frame and was completely in focus, then I may feel differently. But the 2nd one gets my vote.
And Yes, it makes me hungry!
LOL.

I like the first one for "effect" and the second one for "subject".

In both I think the image is too "tight" and cropping off much of the brownie in focus for the first image killed it.

Default Redo of the first image

yes, better. but still too tight IMO...why cut off any of the "product"...usually you want to include something of the "setting".

Yeah, I seem to get in too tight on some food shots. I'll need to be more aware.

Thanks for input.
