Default Spiralling

DSC_1648

Hello everyone! I'm new here and I'm just really interested in picking up photography as a hobby so help me point out where I can improve

It's a photo of those spiralling things at playgrounds. Put my camera into it and shot towards the sky. Was on aperture priority mode if I'm right. This is without post-processing.

Camera Nikon D40X
Exposure 0.001 sec (1/1000)
Aperture f/4.5
Focal Length 18 mm
Focal Length 18.3 mm
ISO Speed 100

P.S. No idea why Flickr gives me two focal lengths, any one can tell me why?

I think it would've been improved with a smaller aperture (or at least a different focus point) so that the top of the spiral was in focus.

Agreed. Nice idea and composition, but suffers from lack of focus.
