Default Unsure how to improve this

Hey all, This is my first post here.
I'm very new to photography and took this shot recently. At first i was really please with it, but the more I look at it the less I like it and i'm not sure why!
Do you think I took it too close? Is there anything i could do in pp to make it better?
Any comments welcome as I want to learn!
Thanks for looking

There is nothing post processing can do to a photo if the camera was out of focus when you pressed the shutter.

Well there is the "artistic" stuff you can do to it, but I have a feeling that's not what you wanted.

At f2.8 your depth of field will be small, at such a close subject distance it will be minuscule, nothing in that photo is sharp.

You asked how to improve it, the only answer, take it again.

It’s a nice idea, however. . .

Instead of those tiny feet looking cute and appealing, they seem grotesque and bizarrely out of proportion because of the photo angle.

Try another angle.

It's really, really underexposed and dark. Did you shoot in RAW? If so, it's an easy fix.

ETA: After looking at the large version, I agree that it's really soft. You could have bumped your ISO up and increased your shutter speed.
