The white flowers just aren't, they are dull and lifeless, is that what you were going for? I did some Brightness / Contrast to the bottom right corner:

It was simple to do:
  1. I duplicated the layer
  2. I added a layer mask to the top one
  3. I then coloured the mask so that the top layer only showed the bottom right corner.
  4. I then Gaussian blurred the layer mask so that it looked like this:
  5. I then adjusted the Brightness / Contrast of the top layer so the flowers were pretty.
This stopped the highlights in the top left from growing and outweighing the flowers, keeping the photo more balanced.

BTW When you copy and paste the Flickr code you don't need the [IMG] tags.

Much better, I hope you did on the original size, I only had the 1024 size to play with, it's always better to edit the original size then save as a small size later.

I use GIMP and I don't use Dodge / Burn, can't get my head around it for some reason.

If you turn off the top layer on and off you should see the adjustment disappear and come back on, if it does then you did use tip 5

You do understand layers and layer masks right?

this, GIMP is a free pixel pusher program like PS. Some people claim GIMP is not a professional editor because it doesn't have 16bit tools but it is they who are tools. There are plenty of professionals that use GIMP.

It's like saying "Oh your a pro cause you have a dSLR", what nonsense it's not the tool, its what you do with it and whether you earn money using that tool.
