I think I have nailed the essence of the chrome and textures of the matte parts. Critique is welcome, if I have missed the mark somehow tell me how I have. Is there a way that I could have improved this shot?

The crop seems off to me with the left edge of the blower opening cut off.

(you may want to read the rules and add the required info before a mod tells you to).

I agree with Sterling about the crop. Just a little more to the left to keep that blower from being cut off would be nice. I also find my eye dropping back down to the wiring/distributor since the MSD logo is a little glimmer of brightness in the sea of darkness. Maybe a wider aperture/shallower DOF would have blurred that out enough to push the eye directly to the blower and hold it there.

Otherwise, I think you're right as far as the lighting/texture of the blower itself showing the contrast between the polish and matte finishes.
