Default Apple

Hi,

I would like to know if there is anything I can do to this photo to improve it. To me it looks a little 'dull' but maybe it's my monitor.

Thanks for taking time to look.

I like the idea, might also look nice with some additional fruit.

I like it a lot!!
And I think I know exactly what you were going for - and I think you did it!

But...I think maybe a little sliver of the apple, at the top near the stem, gets lost in the dark background. Maybe extending the "white" a little more to reveal it?

I am also quite curious myself as to how you did it

First of all, very creative idea. Looks like you did some light painting to achieve this effect. I would like to see the apple a little brighter, but over all, this is a great shot.

Thank you to everyone who took time to look. I appreciate your feedback.

How I did it:

I used a black velvet background cloth in a very dark room

an apple

a mini flashlight (torch) with an almost dead battery

I set my camera to 'bulb' setting and used a remote shutter release.

Next, I lined up the light with the back of the apple, pressed the shutter release and moved the light around the apple until I thought I had enough light recorded. It was trial and error after that. Leaving the shutter open longer would have resulted in a brighter apple but the battery died.

Here is a link to some other light painting I have tried:

Regards to all,

Kathy
