Default Staring at the sea

I took this image a few years ago while on holiday, while standing on top of a cliff looking down to the beach.

I like the image and what it represents, but I feel that the ocean it too light and that it could do with darkening to create a different mood.. I still have the original colour image so I could try converting to black and white again but doing it differently, as at the time I think I just desaturated the image... Is there anything else that you would suggest..??

I love it! The the contrast between the fragile little boy and the powerful ocean is poetic.

You could try adding some more contrast but I like the way it is now, almost minimalistic. Maybe a different crop. (get rid of the little crest in the top right corner?)

I love this.

I suggest cropping this baby. The subject is angled a tad bit to the right, so I'd crop off some of the left side. That way, the subject will be more frame-left, and he'll be pointed into the rest of the frame, literally 'staring at the sea.' :-)

I agree; play around with cropping, and see what can make this image stronger. I think placing the boy to the extreme left bottom corner (ignoring the rule of thirds perhaps?) may work well.

As for the B&W conversion, I don't think it looks too bad for a simple desaturation, however I agree when you say the waves could be slightly darker; perhaps a multiply layer over top (assuming you're using PS)?

This is a great image as is; congrats on a great capture!

Thanks for the comments ... I will look it to your suggestions when I get my new laptop sorted out with all the right software.
