Default Cemetery

I took a recent trip to Massachusetts and was in the Salem area. I came across an old cemetery where there is also a memorial to the victims of the witch trials. I thought it was an interesting subject matter, the head stones had a lot of character to them. I have never done any shooting of this type before and would value your input.

From Boston/Salem

ISO: 100
Exposure: 1/320 sec
Aperture: 4.0
Focal Length: 18mm

I'm NOT a proffessional photographer so I'm just gonna chime in with my opinion. Don't take it too seriously.
They are good shots, crisp, lots of detail. Exposure looks fine but they aren't as interesting as they could be. I think in particular the second one would be better if there were more to it. It could be the main focus with more of the other head stones in the background. Maybe they could have been shot at a different time of day, something showing shadows. The first one I like the angle, maybe you could have taken it slightly more to the front so you can read the inscription better. I don't know, I'm not that creative but I'd like to see a little more to the photos. Maybe black and white, less or more saturation? Again, just my opinion, others may love them. Looks like you're off to a good start though. Keep at it.

Default New at this, but...

I am really new to all of this, but have been told I have a good eye for photography. My technical skills need a whole lotta work though! Here goes anyway....I love the angle at which you took the shot, and I think being able to clearly read the inscription would have taken away from the overall image. Only thing I might change is how bright it is, but I tend to like things darker, so don't go by me! Overall I like it a lot.

I think that shooting this subject on a bright sunny day lessens its impact. It may have been better if the entire headstone was in focus.
