boring??

is this picture missing a subject, or it's alright this way
I kinda like the colors and the light, just wondering about your opinion

You're right, the colours are great. I really like the patterns on the leaves.

I reckon you do have a subject - my eyes are drawn to the branch, the least interesting bit of the photo... so maybe try and reframe?

It might be good to try and get closer in to the leaves, so the branch is cut out and the detail of the leaves increases. And maybe cut out a little more sky so that it is more of a border? Or put in more so the photo has symmetry and contrast of the leaves v sky?

I wouldn't say it's boring, but there does seem to be something missing from the composition to give it that wow factor.

What were you trying to say with the photo? Right now, the thing that stands out most to me, is the contrast between the yellow leaves and the blue sky. However, because the sky is such a pale blue, that contrast isn't as strong as it could be. Additionally, I could see trying to do something graphically with the shapes of the leaves and branches, but there are too many things going on in the corners to make that work effectively.

If you can reshoot it, I'd try to shoot at a time of day when the sky is a little darker, or use a polarizer. Also, get closer or zoom in a little more, so you can isolate just a few of the leaf shapes to simplify the image.
