Three composition moves come to mind. Remove the chair. Position the plant in an intentional way. See if you can get some light to come through the wine. The last one is probably the hardest as the theme is candle light.

I think thats actually just the shadow of a wall plant thats up on the wall. I guess by intentional you mean me placing it in the picture?

At first I thought the chair looked good there but now you mention it I think it could have been better if it was removed and out of the way.

Thanks for commenting I appreciate all the constructive comments

I agree with the other comments.

The plant shadow is great, Ashley!

You might want to consider using a taper candle that produces a longer flame and have that shine through the wine. Also, those are Champagne glasses and that looks like red wine?

Erm ha rumbled! I was rushing round to be honest it was 11:50pm and I needed a photo for my 365 project. We actually did have wine glasses in the same cupboard I just didnt see them until after. School boy error and it could be the difference in a ok picture and a good picture I suppose.

Also its red food dye and water not real wine.

And you are the first person to notice its champagne glasses haha

Thanks for the comments

That’s cuz I’m a wine person.

Seriously, ashey, you need the proper glasses to make that shot credible, whether it’s red dye or not since you are simulating red wine.

I do recommend using real wine and then drinking it during and certainly after the shoot.

I know. Bad bad choice by me. I didn't even think about it until after the shot. The wine glasses were just one shelf above the champagne ones as well there is seriously no words that could describe my disappointment when I even thought about the error!

I would use real wine but what might upset you more than me not using wine glasses, I don't actually like wine ha.

That was intentional though to be honest cause the difference was quite a lot. It was just to give an effect as if they had been left over and they couldnt drink anymore

Won't upset me at all. As they say, "More for the rest of us."

Seriously, try to use a proper wine glass for the "color" and see what a difference it makes in the shot. After all, you are not just shooting for the beer and pizza crowd or are you?
