I saw something similar in a photo mag and was trying to duplicate it.

Nice shot, love the deep rich red of the rose. Have you done any pp? Perhaps something to hide the few distraction in the dark background.

I did a touch of saturation in Picasa to bring out the red a little more. I am very green when it comes to post work. Thanks for the reply

Very nice!
Maybe you should edit away the color differences in the background to make it an even cleaner photo.
Cropping the negative space on the left might make it better as well.
Either way it's still a great photo!

I actually like the original crop better, including the green leaves. But that's just me.
