Hello, I'm new here and a new photographer. I wanted to post for everyone my Flickr stream for a critique.
I need all the points I can get. Please give your honest opinion on everything. I might not understand MAJOR photographer talk but must I will. I know it's a lot but please help me out here. Flickr Previews

Your link works, but why not post one or two pics here... You may get more responses if you start with that.

I like the first image above a good deal. It's not the best composition ever, but the textures more than make up for that. As a matter of fact, textures are a recurrent theme in many of your images. That's a good thing. Most photographers ignore the power of texture in their images but you seem to have it well in hand.

I really like that first shot, it gives a sense of yearning, I think. The 2nd one might benefit with a little boost in contrast; blacken those boots some. Nice work here, though; I will check out your flickr photos.

New to DPS and photography? I can see why you are drawn to take up photography and desire to know more. I agree with both Lee and Barbara, certainly you have a good sense of texture. But I especially like what Barbara is getting at. Clearly you are trying to evoke a feeling, perhaps nostalgia would come close. That instinct in you is very keen. I'd keep following where it leads. (PS in SYS we cheer and encourage. For hard hitting critique--a great way to learn--post there. But getting encouragement early on is also a good thing!)

I realize 30-ish pics are a lot to critique...I'm just so inspired and want to hear what others think. So if you could just critique my approach, maybe..or things I need to work on...I can't expect anyone to critique all 30 images. But if you have time, please tell me what you think.
