Default Cemetery Shot

I was back home recently in Missouri and decided to try and get some shots of one of the older cemeteries in town. I wasn't quite sure how to shoot a cemetery.

Here is one of the more interesting ones to me. The rest can be seen in Flickr

Hi Wade,

This is a very unique shot. It's not often that you see a fallen statue in a cemetery like this.

The subject matter is quite strong and I think that monochrome best suits the subject. I'm not so sure about the right side of the image, though. There is nothing there and I don't think the empty space really adds anything. I think it might have been better to try to fill the frame with the grave stones only. Maybe a vertical crop help focus fill the frame with the subject? It might be a stronger image that way.

I hope that helps.

Nice shot, I think the B&W is a good idea for a cemetery, really adds mood. Agree with the empty right hand side comment above, perhaps moving to your right would've made a difference? Like how you used the tree in the foreground for framing.
TFS!

With the unbalanced right side as mentioned, and the heavy vignette, the eye is immediately drawn to the bright empty field instead of to the monuments.
