In terms of photography, I have a fairly good grasp of the fundamentals (and am continuing to grow in my knowledge and skill). However, in terms of my photographic "eye," I am fairly pragmatic and not much of an "outside-the-box" photographer. I have difficulty seeing ordinary objects as unique, and thus, capturing them as such. My 3-year-old daughter had left her shoe lying on the living room floor, and so I thought I'd try to take some interesting shots of it. This is a babystep in trying to enhance my creative eye. What are your impressions? Basic exposure/contrast/saturation/framing feedback would be nice, but I would REALLY like some feedback in terms of its creative aspect. How could this have been improved?

Technically speaking, perhaps a trifle underexposed on the shoe, my eye naturally falls on that massive highlight on the table behind.

Compositionally speaking it's well composed to the Rule of Thirds. Creatively speaking it's perhaps a bit off. With a shot like this, essentially a still life, I try and 'tell a story', to give it meaning. If it was a shoe (or a pair of shoes) in the light of the back door, freshly muddied, it would suggest returning from an adventure, for example. But as it is it's a shoe on a table, so it doesn't really say much.

Just my 2¢!
