Default Glass

The last few days I'm trying to photograph some glasses. For one yet unknown reason the top of the glasses is (always) really unsharp and I have no idea what is causing it. I have a feeling that wrong lightning is the main cause. Does anyone have an idea?
(Other tips are more than welcome, because I'm still not very happy with the result)

Thank you for watching (and commenting)

Ronald

[EDIT] sorry always forget exif: 50mm, f18, iso 100, 1/160

This is just a guess but I would try creating some highlights around the rims.

EXIF data would be nice too!

Yeah, some exif would be nice. Could be as simple as you using f1.8 and focusing on the stems which could throw the rims out of the focal plane.. but, well, it's just a guess with no exif.

Ok, I figured it out myself. There was too much background which caused a reflection on the glass.

Here is an update, which is much better. Almost satisfied.

exif : same as before.

Thank you for watching ...

Neat shot! I don't do this type of photography so I can't really add advice on how to light, but I do see how the second one is sharper towards the rims of the glasses. I personally like the overall brightness of the first photo though. The second one seems a bit "heavier."

Pretty lighting, and it just looks like now all you need are adjustments until you're happy with it and think it's perfect. Personally, I'd consider busting out the ruler. It's very so slightly left biased to the left, which unbalances the symmetry of the overlappping glasses. It's most noticeable in the unbalance of the bottom curve of the glasses.

Thank you for the nice comments!

I have also noticed that it is not very straight. I have created new pictures which are a lot of better. I'll upload them if I can find the time. Most of them are on my flickr though.
Once again, thank you for commenting!
