Springs!

My sister pointed this out to me, off the back of one of the horse lorries at the yard, so I had a go. I'm quite pleased, but I want your thoughts? Did I put the right things in? (There was other nobs etc but they all seemed to be rusting) and is the composition of the image right?

If the subject in your photo is the thing on the left, then all that area on the right is dead space that doesn't really contribute to the photo. I think that the whole composition would be a lot better if you just cropped it out so that the picture is a vertical. It also needs a lot more contrast. I think that it might look better in black and white too.
