Default Low Key, first try!

Hello all,

I just want to share this photo with you and expect some C&C.

Camera: Canon
Model: Canon EOS 450D
ISO: 200
Exposure: 1/30 sec
Aperture: 7.1
Focal Length: 135mm

I don't know about low key. Really what I see is an underexposed car.

I am with Sterling here.....If you have to look twice or extra hard to see what it is you are looking at then it needs some work

In order to do that, you need light that you can control. The example you gave, the cat had a side light. The existing light in this scene was pretty much non existent in terms of trying to achieve a similar lighting effect.

It's impossible to get the effect in the example with no side/back lighting. You'd need (at least) a strong light source behind or to the side (or both) of the car and as far as I can see there is only one light source in this image coming from behind or above you (or is a pop up flash on your camera).

I hope this helps you understand what's need for you to achieve this and what's lacking in the image?
