Default No Time

Hey, I picked up a list of 100 themes, and I'm starting a project based off of it. My first theme was "No Time". To do this, I took a clock down in my room, spent 30 minutes opening it up (It's harder than it sounds) then took the hands off.

I took the shot on a seat/storage thing right in front of my window. I was using only light bouncing in from the windows in my room. I did use a flash with this, although it's a little hard to tell.

I did the editing in Lightroom. Pretty much I did a B&W Mix, fixed some sharpness/noise issues, and did lens corrections, then posted it on Flickr.

How'd I do? Do you think it fits the theme well? Any suggestions on how I could have made this better? Or a shot that might have fit the theme a little more?
Thanks in advance! - Mike

Hi Mikezors87,

Very interesting image. I think that is a great idea to work on themes.

Yes I do. I definitely get the 'no time' theme.

I would suggest two things... First, I find the detail in the window distracting. I can see a car and a house. I don't think that those things add to the theme. So I think that image would be stronger if the window was completely blown out white with no detail. Second, I think the image would communicate the theme more strongly if the clock was more prominent in the image. I think that you could do this by raising the camera and shooting down on the clock face.

I hope that helps!

Thanks! I'll take what you said into deep thought! I believe I did an edit where the window was blown out, and it really seemed to trash the image in general, having half of it blown out like that.
If I had a faster lens I would have used that to further blur the window out (Although I might have needed an ND filter with a really wide Aperture on this shot).

And thanks for the idea about making the clock more prominent. I actually wanted to bring the clock to some obscure location, like a field, or the lake and take pictures there, but no one would go with me, and I felt weird carrying a clock and a camera around the city. D:

But thank you so much, I love getting feedback!
