Default Waiting

Hello everyone. Well Im fairly new to photography and have been taking different pics of subjects that interest me. As I was driving I saw this man just sitting and waiting for someone to pour some change into his cup. The way he was sitting and his expression caught me so I pulled over and took the pic. Let me know your opinoins? How can I improve the shot or what could I have different? I cropped the photo in photoshop and turned it into black and white.

Camera Nikon D5000
Lense 70-300mm
Shutter - 1/30
Arpeture - F22
ISO- Lo 0.3

Thanks.

I like the black and white conversion, and the blur of the vehicle in the background indicates that it was moving.
I feel that you could have used a bigger aperture (smaller f-stop) for this. It would have given you a faster shutter speed, and less chance of camera shake. It would also have given you a shallower depth of field allowing you to isolate your subject a little more from the background.
Great effort, keep shooting!

The reason I went with a smaller aperture was so I could a use a slower shutter speed. I wanted to show that the vehicles were moving. If I would have used a faster shutter speed it would have froze the car in the background correct?

I think the car clutters the shot. I would love to have seen this with just the waiting man and a cleaner background.

There is also a random head appearing over the edge of the wall to the left of the mans own head. You could have timed the shot for this head to have gone behind the waiting man. But I do understand that you wanted to capture the moving car. Maybe you could have taken more shots with cars going past then chose the best one.

What is the building in the background? Is it food related? A positional move possibly. Just looking at the irony that could be shown in the story of this picture.
