Default A Saturday Well Spent

I recently got my first DSLR, a Nikon D5000. I've been using various point and shoot cameras up till now and thought I'd upgrade to have better control over the pictures I was taking. I've felt really comfortable with this upgrade and would like to know about how I could improve; my sensibility over the scene, better understanding of what (more) the camera can do to help better the output.

Within the guidelines that are posted at the top of each page, are vital information that you need to know to post in the critique section. Please read thru them and edit your post with the information it's lacking. Thank you!!!

Holler if you need help!

Please post only ONE image in the thread. If you need to show more, link it to your set. If you post more than one, the other will be deleted at the moderators discretion
Since I needed to put forward more shots for critique, I thought a simple link to the flickr set would do. I'm rather confused right now because of the second rule and then the flickr guideline that follows. How am I supposed to show a number of images at once?
Anyway, I think I'll just put up one shot per day. To start things off.
