Default spotted umbrella striped boots

Camera: Nikon Coolpix S220
Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/833)
Aperture: f/4.6
Focal Length: 6.3 mm
ISO Speed: 80
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

My questions are,
1) Am I close enough to her? I took a few that were tighter around her but I didn't like them as much.
2) Is the low coloring okay? or should I go back to the original, or even more saturated color?
3) are there any other suggestions you have for me?

For me the picture is kind of "bland" Try cropping in and adjust in levels
Hope you don't mind, a quick take...my 2 cents worth.

Cindy,

Question 1 and 2 are rather subjective. In answer to question 1 you did the right thing, You shot both tighter and wider images. This way you can choose the one you like best.

Question 2, There is nothing wrong with de-saturating an image for creative effect. I like the more saturated version that Douglas created, but that is not the point, The point is, which image do you like more? Do not be afraid to try different images, This gives you the freedom to then choose what you like.

Question 3. Shooting when the sun is directly overhead creates very bad shadows. The best time to shoot creative shoots is early morning or late evening. Even the pros shoot in the shade when the sun is overhead.

If you shot this image when the sun was lower you could position the model with the umbrella with the sun facing the umbrella and the person's pants in the image would be properly lit and not in shadow.

Sometimes you have to shoot in direct sunlight, Then you have to be creative and use the sun to your advantage.

Thanks

Joe
