Post Does this Composition Work?

Does this work as a composition? Should I have taken more of the trunk or less of it in the frame?

I'm no expert by any stretch but for me there is enough interest in the bark to have filled the frame entirely with just the trunk. Lovely colour and texture.

sebthedog1,

thanks. i too thought of putting more trunk in the frame but was worried it might take away the sense of perspective. will try again with trunk in the entire frame.

black bar / tree / whatever - top left kills it for me.

sime,

yes, you're right. i think the top left (another tree trunk by the way) spoils the composition. i should have cropped it tighter. thanks for the reaction.
