Default Interesting plant - well, should be!

Hi All

Took this in Adelaide at lunchtime. It was a lovely sunny day, until I went out with my camera when it clouded over!

Anyway, I saw this plant and it looked interesting but the photo doesn't really.

I needed to go in close as the background wasn't great and would have been distracting, also wouldn't have seen the hair type thingies. But somehow it isn't that interesting .

Any thoughts on how I could have made it look better?

Thanks

This is a terrific shot and you have several things going for you here. One of the things we look for in art is repitition and you have that going on in spades here. Another important element is quality of line and I gotta tell you, those little swirly-gigs are fabulous. It is unfortunate that the two points closest are not in sharp focus but I would suggest a bit of sharpning. It won't cure the problem but it will help a great deal. Also, and this is a personal preference, I would suggest a levels adjustment and a bit more color saturation; both of which are easily done in PS or GIMP. I won't post what I got when I ran it through PS but I'd sure love to have it in my portfolio.

Thanks Lee, that's fantastic feedback. I am looking at the pic differently now.

I haven't tackled any software yet, although I do have GIMP on my Macbook. At the moment I am just getting used to the camera. GIMP is next on my list of projects.

I may have a go tonight.

Thanks again for the advice.
