Default kids watching a cropduster

We were watching a cropduster working this morning. He would come turn right over our barnyard. The kids and I enjoyed it very much. It was all quick--and after watching a few turns, I ran back into the house to get my camera. It had a long lens on it, and I hadn't grabbed another before running back out. This was taken at the 70 mm (shortest) end of the lens. I am thinking the 18-55 would have served me better. I kinda like the idea of the shot, but how would I make it better next time?

I think a cool shot would have been when the plane was turning right overtop of them, with them looking up, but when it was that close, my daughter liked having a hand to hold (and I liked a hand on my toddler when he was looking up )

Pentax k10d, iso 800, shutter speed 1/2000, f/11 (I think, it was a manual lens, and I hope I remember correctly)

--focus on the kids or what they are watching? Or increase the iso, for a smaller aperture and try to get both in focus?

--the orange panel is distracting, probably move my point of view to get it down out of the way?

Thanks for your suggestions!
Let me know if this thread would have been better placed somewhere else.

Both the crop duster and kids are out of focus. The former is too small to focus on and the kids have their backs against the camera to make them your focus.

I suggest you just focus on one subject.
