Default Yummy or Yucky? Please peek at my Chocolate Dipped Peeps

Please tell me how to improve! Am getting mixed reviews about my Chocolate Dipped Peeps candy project, especially the lighting. Please comment! I use a Canon G10.Chocolate Dipped Peeps for Easter | Worth The Whisk

I cant see what you mean by lighting. I see that the pic is nicely exposed as there is no overblown or dark areas.. I would suggest the saturation and contrast be increased a bit, because the colors seems a bit washed to me, but that is to your preferences.

THANK you, now I feel a little vindicated. This photo was rejected by a popular food porn site for "lighting issues" which made me question how to better the lighting. I did bounce some light back at the peep's little face, too. Would love others' input?? Thanks again.

The peeps are well lit, but there are shadows and reflections which are making the photo very busy. I think too much of the plate in the foreground and on the right is distracting from your food. I think a closer crop around the foreground peeps might help some of the issues. Color looks great tho. I'm not a peep fan but with chocolate bottoms they look more appealing to me.

I would have like to have seen all four peeps on the plate in focus. Also, I'm not sure what that is in the top right corner, but it seems to distract from your main subject. Regarding the lighting, it is just a bit flat. Were you lighting straight on to your subjects? Side lighting might give you a little more lighting interest. For this picture, I would edit with a little more contrast and add some highlights. This might give you the visual interest your looking for now.

I would have come down to the "peeps" eye view a little more, and this way you could see more peeps in the background. The lighting is good too...and the colors are true to me. Kicking up the saturation would make it pop though!

P.S. Now I am hungry for Peeps!

Maybe you could have opened the aperture a bit more for a shallower DoF so that only the front peep would've been in sharp focus while the others would've been completely blurred out. Just a thought.

Cool idea! Colors are bright but maybe they can be boosted up little more for contrast. Too much empty plate add more peeps or smaller plate.
