Default The Carousel

Hi guys

I was trying to experiment a little with longer exposures while out on Saturday, and while I'm ok with this shot overall, I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on how to create longer exposures in daylight without blowing all the detail; of seven or eight shots I took, this one (at 0.125/sec) was the only one where the detail of the scene wasn't really blown.

Or is the level of movement ok and any slower exposure would make it all too messy?

Thanks

Exposure: 0.125 sec (1/8)

Honestly speaking the motion blur effect looks nice. I think here you need a character, may be a child or a child on the mother's lap in front of Carousel which can make the composition better. May be you can crop little from bottom to avoid unwanted elements from scene.

I also think the motion in this shot looks nice, and I agree that a human element would have been great, a child with an ice cream cone, mother and child, etc... As for longer exposures during the day, look into getting yourself a neutral density filter...they're inexpensive and would definitely give you what your looking for.

Yep, ND Filter is a good choice for long exposure in a sunny day.
