Hi everyone ..
I'm an amerture photographer for a while now .. the more I take shots the more I feel that I do not know about photography! I'm still learning and I guess this is my first attempt to get feedback on any of my shots. I had difficulty in knowing how to get the rule of thirds when I started doing some touches in Adobe? Is it neccessary that after cropping or making some fine changes that the rule still applies? Bear in mind that I am still experimenting with my P&S .. the do not like using flash in my shots either.. Canon digital (P&S) SD890 IS (IXUS 970 IS) ISO: 200 Aperture: F/3.2 Shutter Speed: 1/318 Thank you! |

Don't get too attached to the rule of thirds. It is an important guide, but even more important than the rule is knowing when to use it and when to cast is aside.
Your image is pretty good for a newbie; not great, but a lot better than many of my first efforts.

It (the rule of 1/3s) worked well in this shot. I use it as a fallback, if I can't decide what else to do I use the rule.

Thx Lee for your feedback, I'll be reading more on the rule to see when to keep it aside. How do you think I could've made the shot better, do you think the P&S is a limitation ?
Thx Len .. Zan |

Until you really start messing with aperture and shutter speed, your p&s will generally do the trick. I think I would like to see a little tighter crop on the vehicle but I think the composition works on this one.
Keep trying and you'll perfect your shooting. |

This is the kind of picture I use for my Desktop...
