Smile An apple star

I was going to enter this apple star in the weekly challenge but i thought well maybe I should simply ask what people thought first before I jump into the weekly challenge--I have a Nikon d40 I did place this by a window but it just didnt produce enough light so I used two lights and a flash---white balance flash negetive 1--iso of 400---raw---vivid--exposure comp negetive .3 shutter 1/60 apperture f 5.6

You should've entered it in the assignment! Next to the photos I post yours would look fine!

I like your color choices, green and red are complimentary. You have the star on a raised background, and it's creating some shadow. I'm wondering if a different angle (perhaps flat, shot obliquely or from above) would've helped with your lighting.

I've noticed that quite a few of the food assignment photos (some great ones) were taken in artificial light. Though that's not recommended in any article you read about food photography it seems like a rule to be broken, so don't be concerned about experimenting with the light. One of the one's I posted had flourescent lighting in the background and a flashlight aimed at the front and the lighting (at least) turned out nicely.

Post away!

Don't be skired! You get some great criticisms here which will help you develop your photography skills. I got 'slapped around' when I first started posting but I started applying the suggestions and now I look forward to the 'brutal' comments.
