Hi all,
I have started a bit of a theme on Urban Decay and started to take a few photos of old signs ( Urban Decay : The Signs | FlixelPix ) My concern was I was going to end up with a dozen straight on, centered photos. That said I am now wondering by deliberately not centering the images that it looks as if I haven't taken any effort and the photos just look untidy ? Any tips on this sort of photography, it is hard to get away from just snapping the signs and to put some thought into them. The full set is here. (Flickr). (flickr).

Fun project idea. When I read the sign I'm left hanging with questions like put my litter where? I want to see if the recepticle is also decaying or even if it's still there. So adding at least a bit of the scene that gives the sign meaning would help a lot. I see you did that with a couple of the other photos in the series. I wouldn't add the whole scene, just enough to support the sign. You still want the sign as your major focus. This is very inspiring and I'll be keeping it in mind as a project for myself. Thanks!

Yes see what you mean. The bin wasn't there any more but it would be better to have told that aspect of the story.
I checked and all the photos of that sign are close up..... I might go back anyway ![]() David |
