Default Ads in Japan

I took this the summer of '09 and was just looking back at it today. I took it when I still lived in Japan. It's a wall on a street covered in ads.

Editing: WB
Critique: Composition, contrast, WB, lighting

Camera: Canon Powershot S5IS
Shutter: 1/1250
Aperture: f/3.5
ISO: 400
Fash: Off, did not fire

All of your critique aspects look as they should to me. As for composition, the photo could be of more interest if there were more of the wall captured. And even more interest if a person were walking by or standing reading the ads.

Basically agreed. Other than the sense of scale or place, the composition is vibrant, doesn't lead the eye off the frame and holds interest.

I find it busy, but it is, and is meant to be. Scale or place by having a person may have helped. It feels very abstract as is. If that's the intention, you've certainly hit the nail on the head.

I agree that there's not much story going on as composition doesn't direct the eye to anything. I agree with the comment that if you were able to capture a person looking at the ads, it would have appeared more interesting.

Cheers!

That's exactly what I was going for
