Default Summer Harvest (Vegetables).

First real attempts at still life. Taken for the assignment - Food fruit and vegetables. Used a black cloth backdrop and would appreciate any critique from more advanced photographers.

Have you any lighting info?. Can you shoot off camera lighting?. It seem the light is coming from camera axis and going by the specular highlight no modifiers were used to soften the light. The colly is almost blown out.

your staging is quite nice.....but, i agree thatyour lighting could use a little work.......it seems that there is but one light source off to the left of the field....a little reflected light, or secondary fill, or even a handy little flashlight from the right to fill in all the shadows and even out the brightness of the collie......

Agree with the need for some additional light...a bounce card would probably have been enough....

But it seems odd to me to have vegetables floating in black space.....I think white would have been better, and better yet might be a setting that puts the food into some kind of context.

Thank you all, very good advice from the three of you. Correctly pointed out I only had one light source and will give that some more consideration in the future. Also comment about staging and backdrops taken on board. Again, thank you all, grumpypop51.
