I think that's a personal question. If you find that you are waiting for your camera to write to a slow memory card and it's annoying then yes, you should get a faster memory card (provided that it can accommodate a faster memory card). But if you're happy with the speed, then why bother?

Im pulling a PNY 8gb SDHC card, class II. the reason I splurged so much is that I like to shoot in RAW, and that needs a fast, large card. The FZ8 saves a raw shot in about 3 seconds or so with this card, which is definitely usable. When I popped in an older 1gb card, the save time almost doubled, which is the difference between usability or not.
So, if you want to shoot the photos RAW, go with a faster card, larger too (8gb holds 485 photos). If your shoting jpeg, dont bother with the faster card.
