Default Panasonic dmc-ft1

is the panaconic dmc-ft1 a good camera for getting into surf photography? i am interested in possibly taking photos whilst riding waves, off the beach, behind the boat, in the pool or in the water.

if this camera isnt the right choice what other camera should i buy in the under $500 price range???

I just ordered the follow-up to the FT1; the FT2 (or TS2 in North America).. You might as well go with the newer camera.. It can be had for around $350 in the US - not sure about the prices in the UK, though probably around that just in £.. The new one is also waterproof to 10m/30ft and dropproof from 6ft/2m.. Look into it, I think you'll like it
