Default Great deal on Sigma DP1 14MP Camera

Hello everyone! I was browsing Deal Chasr for the latest Amazon deals and saw a deal some of you might be interested in: Sigma DP1 14MP Digital Camera for only $399. This is a pretty significant price drop from what it has been listed at. I don't know much about the camera, but it seems pretty powerful. I also don't know how long this price drop will stick, so act fast if you want to buy it.

Thanks for the link, Tee! I looked at this camera for quite a while when it first came out. Kudos to Sigma for trying something different, I'm really sad that performance issues seem to get in the way of what should be an awesome niche camera. I love the fixed wide angle lens and the big sensor in a small camera package. Maybe version two will fix some of the usability issues . . .

I just hope the lack of sales don't deter other manufacturers from trying something similar.

Yes, it does seem to have a large sensor for its size. Too bad about the performance issues, though.

The only drawback beside performance issues I see is the limitation is that you cannot interchange lens.

As long as you consider the large size and weight of DSLR's to be a drawback as well.

That is a screamin' deal though. If my need for a small portable camera weren't already met, I'd probably go for it.

Jim: much of the point of this sigma is the small size. Its meant to be a point and shoot, albeit a powerful one.

The next big thing in P&S cameras is an APS-sized sensor in a small package. The problem is that the sensor is HUGE compared to most current cameras, though I think Canon had once said it could fit rather nicely in a G series.

It looks like the price already went back up to $499 (third party seller) and $655 (Amazon), so the deal is over.
