The link doesn't show the particular camera you are inquiring about, or what your budget is. Me personally, I would prefer to recommend one of the better name cameras, and there are many good name point and shoots. The short list, and in no particular order: Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, Sony, Fuji, Kodak...at least these manufacturers are in the camera business, whereas GE is probably having the camera made for them, probably out of China.

maybe this link is better. my budget is tight. i was just curious if GE made total crap or would it be worth a shot. i bought a new camera 2 days ago and i love it. i was thinking of getting on of these just to test the quality.

Maybe if it had the name Sony, or Panasonic, or Fuji on it I'd feel better about it...but GE??. Years back I bought a new house with 5 GE appliances in it, and since then, and unless I absolutely have to, I vowed to never buy GE again...so maybe I'm a little biased

Almost all these point and shoot camera are "Made In China". Most of them are the exact camera with different names on them. Name brands really don't make much difference anymore. The Canon S5 in made in China also. Even DSLRs like the Nikon D200 is made in Thailand.

No question that much of what we buy today is made in China, just go any day to Walmart. However, when a Canon or Nikon (or any major camera name brand) is manufactured there, it is built to the OEM's design and manufacturing standards. And the original designs are done in plant, probably in Japan by the likes of Canon and Nikon engineers, and not in China. I think it's a lot different in this case where this camera is designed, manufactured, and tested 100% in China, and sold as a Chinese product albeit with a GE label on it. I'm not saying it'll be bad, but that'll have to be a wait and see.
