Question InterChangable Lenses?

I have been using my E-500 for about 3 years now and it has been working out fine for me. I have been using only the lenses that came with the kit with I bought the camera.

I thinking about upgrading some of my lenses (not the ones that came with the kit). My question is, would i be able to put for example : Zuiko Digital ED 50-200mm (F2.8-3.5 SWD) or the Zuiko Digital ED 50mm (F2.0 Macro) on my current body (E-500). If not then what lenses are compatible with the E-500....

Thanks
Danny

I'm pretty sure both of those lenses are compatible (I'm a Canon shooter, so, you may want to wait for another Oly shooter to confirm). As long as it's a digital Zuiko, you should be ok. Basically, as long as the lens has a four-thirds mount, it can be used on your camera, which means you can also look at Panasonic and a few Sigma lenses as well as Olympus. Just make sure you're not looking at a micro four-thirds lens. And if the Panasonic/Leica lenses tempt you, you'll want to know about how the Panny in-lens and Oly in-body stabilization systems differ and don't necessarily play well with each other.

You can find the full list of four-thirds lenses on the four-thirds.org website.

If you find an older Olympus Zuiko manual focus lens, it'll be described as using the "OM mount". You can use this on four-thirds with an adapter ring, but you won't have autofocus and are probably limited to shooting in manual or aperture-priority modes. The old OM-mount Zuikos, though, are fantastic lenses, and some can be found used at very low prices (e.g., a 50mm f/1.8 (the old film kit lens) is around $20).

true. those are compatible lens. as long as it's 4/3 mount. (not micro 4/3)
even OM lens can be attached to your camera provided you have the OM adaptor.
sigma also produces 4/3 mount lens.

Hi there Danny,

Both those lenses will work with the e500. As mentioned in the other replies, all 4/3rd mount lenses will work with the e500. The two you referred to pricey but definitely worth the money!

Anything that is a 4/3s (not micro 4/3s) mount will fit. Zuiko and Sigma make 4/3s mount lenses. Also, I bough an OM lens adapter off of ebay for $10 so I could use my OM lenses with my E-520.
