The interesting thing is the bump in sales that Cosina Voigtlander's probably reaping from the µ4/3 sales and their M mount adapter. I doubt I'm the only one to consider stuffing a CV Nokton 50 f/1.1 on the front of that thing. I mean, poor man's M+Noctilux, or what?

It's slower than that of the Panasonic G1. If you want a good comparison between the two models, I'd recommend looking at this thread on fredmiranda.com, where a lot of folks chime in with experience of both cameras.

This is also why there's such interest in the GF1, since presumably it will have most of the strengths of the G1 in an E-P1 form factor. Obviously, though, from the leaked pictures, no flip-out LCD. But that port underneath the hotshoe could mean an EVF, something else the E-P1 lacks, but that the E-P2 is rumored to get (also a pop-up flash for some insane reason).

Since it's no dslr it's fair the autofocus isn't as fast as a dslr. I'm actually glad they didn't put a flash on the EP-1, since that would give bad results. I mean, even the popup flash of the E520 is a total joke. Allmost every even small flash is doing a lot better (you should realy check this out if you own an E520, or something like it).

It's not being compared to a dSLR. It's being compared to the other µ4/3 camera out there, the Panasonic G1/GH1. Rightly or wrongly, dpreview's findings were "...By far the biggest problem with the E-P1 is its contrast detect autofocus system, which is not only slower than any SLR, it's slower than many compacts too."

Ok, for those who have (like me) been under the spell of all the cool-hype about the E-P1, here's a really good review (by Thom Hogan. Found it on the online photographer blog). He used it on a trip to Africa for an extended period of time so there's a lot more real world experience with it than most of the reviews you'll see.

Default Olympis Pen

Recently purchased this. So far great, Do need to buy the viewfinder though. Easy to use and learn. Accessories difficult to get, Been Waiting 1 month now for Leather case, will need to be more patient.

Whatever people say about it having less features the E-P1, Pen and also Panasonic's GF1 are a breakthrough in the camera technology.
One has to agree that the micro four thirds has enabled DSLRs to be extra compact, so much so that they are the sizes never seen before.
So let this technology advance a bit more. To tell you the truth, i won't lie but when I first saw Pen E P1 I fell in love with that camera. For me it was the finest "small" DSLR out there. Then Panasonic released its G F1, that camera too is a wonder like no other.
Must say both of these have intoduced a big change in the camera.

If you are looking to buy E P1 or G F1 you should remember several things. Firstly, this tech is new.....so you'd actually be trying out something totally new and i mean totally new. Secondly, Oly has introduced 3 lens and Panasonic has 5 lens although adapter *is* available for them too. Only 5 lens....hmm....should think about it. Most people don't stick with kit lens of their DSLRs and "move on".

So wait on a little while....see what more has to come up on this tech. You see the manufacturers are waiting for the consumers to make a move whereas the consumers are waiting for the manufacturers to make a move and do more about this tech, but dun't worry....more is due on this tech.

Hope that i was helpful

P.S. I only read your first post and wrote this reply.....so if i contradicted or offended anyone in any case please don't jump over me...... thanks

I just read Thom Hogan's review on E P1. And indeed he has pointed out almost all the disadvantages of E P1. But I believe that the Panasonic G F1 eliminates some of them......
My final advice........wait ............ untill the time is right

And the E-P2 (with plug-in EVF) is announced:

Olympus launches E-P2 Micro Four Thirds camera: Digital Photography Review

Very slight upgrade (AF tracking, EVF) over the E-P1. Don't think it's a GF-1 killer or anything. Really wish they'd upgraded the LCD.
