Unhappy Focal Length Button e520

hi there...im an owner also of olympus e520 just barely a month, i find hard time understanding using the focal length button..can u provide me like details of using it. also the small button beside beside the eye piece rotating it from - to +, what is it for..im sorry im really at this one and i want to learn still getting to know with my buddy cam...HELP....thanx!!

sir, may i know where's the location of the focal length button? im an owner of E-520 and i'm quite sure that i don't have that button... are you pertaining to the AEL/AFL button perhaps?
the rotating thingy is the diopter adjustment, i really dont know what's the use of this but it just makes your eyes adopt to what the camera sees... (IMO)

The AEL/AFL button is for locking either the auto-exposure, or the auto-focus to a specific setting, so you can recompose and keep the same settings.

The +/- wheel is the diopter setting, is for people who need glasses, so that they can see the display in the viewfinder in focus without their glasses on. Well, assuming they only need a mild correction, like those readers you can buy at the drugstore.
