I'm a newbie at photography and all my colleagues are canon/nikon users...
i asked them what kind/type of dslr they would recommend. they have all said either 1000d, 450d (canon), D40, D60 (nikon). then i mad a research about it on Dpreview and compared side-by-side those DSLR. then i saw this new E-520 by olympus. I was overwhelmed that the E-520 can do what other cameras/brand can do... (well except for the 9 AF of canon) i went to a camera shop and try to feel those camera and clearly, E-520 is the lightest of them all. and the grip suits me well. after i have purchased my E-520, these are the feature i like most... 1.Very user friendly interface. 2.Built-in IS!!! (i have shaky hands...) 3.great vivid shots...

I've always had good results with Olympus cameras, and after borrowing an E-300 to play with, decided that I needed to get a DSLR, rather than a high-end point & shoot, to replace the camera I already owned.
So I played. I went into the stores, and played with the Nikon, played with the Canon, played with the E-500. I spent the better part of three weeks playing, in various stores, with different cameras. In the end, it's what felt right in my hands, and what fit in my budget. My E-500 still feels like an extension of my hand; I've picked up the E-420 and E-520, just to see, and almost immediately put them right back down because they just don't feel right.

well, my husband decided for me
I wanted a "real" camera and I was being swayed by commercials for a particular brand, but he claims he did the research and decided this one was better But I do love me E-410, even if it is my first one. I'm just perplexed as to why it doesn't seem to be very popular, Olympus that is, maybe because they primarily make microscopes (probably the reason for the great lenses) and focus their advertising in that direction. |

You see other brands spend a zillion $$ on advertising....we benefit from a lower price and more features.... ![]() I also like it that the lens and camera's are smaller. When out and about that can mean a lot.

And it is so much faster too! Good thing you got it now. You know they discontinued it? They are making the 14-54 ll but I hear it maybe twice the price!
