Yup. It's the reflecting pond from the Botanical House side. I live in San Diego, so when I can't think of anything to shoot, I hit Balboa Park and the Zoo.
![]() The E-410 should still be able to retain metering with manual focus lenses, but checking against the histogram is a terrific idea, since that metering may not be 100% accurate. With my slower MF lenses, my XT meters spot on, but when I slap the 1.2 wide open onto it, it consistently meters a full stop lighter. You'll also want to be careful using spot-metering, and I think I read somewhere that the distance scale on the lens may not be accurate.

I read somewhere that the 1.2 and 1.8 shoot a little soft when wide open. Does anyone else find that to be true or was it just one guy's experience. I haven't read about it anywhere else.
Inkista - If you go down rosecrans, turn right on Canon (to go to Cabrillo Monument) and make the first left there are those huge houses . (I think the Rady family lives over there) Drive halfway up any of the steep streets and behind you will be the rarely photographed northwestern view of San Diego bay. Even overcast days are something to look at. |

I've been toying around with getting a 50 or 28 for months now, but just haven't got there. I think it is common to not shoot all the way open with the OM lenses as you said. I have seen more people about doing a stop or two for their shots.

The focus is a little off, since it was my first shoot with the lens, and it landed on the knuckles of Neil Gaiman's left hand, not the pen where he was signing. But if you want to judge sharpness via pixel-peeping, here's a link to the full-size image. I also did a side-by-side of the 1.2, the 1.8, and the Canon EF 50 1.8 II: ![]() Unfortunately, given the resizing I did (I was comparing bokeh), I'm not sure you can judge sharpness from it well. But again, here's a link to the full size. Quote:

Ah. Right. Forgot. Register distance and sensor size would make a difference. Damn. Too bad the Olympus PEN lenses (half-35mm-frame film format) were rangefinder. Although with Micro 4/3...

I finally got my 50 yesterday and took a couple quick shots. I was aiming for the bottom right corner of the handle and it came in pretty focused. The following picture is the same as the first but ran through the unsharp filter. Can't really see the difference unless you zoom in a whole bunch. I used picnik to straighten out the pics.
BTW, happy belated thanksgiving. ![]() unsharp mask ![]() links to OGs http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3205/...424df9b8_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3040/...d1eb80ed_o.jpg |
